Thursday Press #129: lemme learn ya something (+ help u save)
[25 APR 2024] Lifestyle Edition Vol. 024
It's been three weeks since I last published a blog.
And if you witnessed last week's “f*ck it I'm sending this nonsense as is” email, you probably aren't surprised.
You know what? Not blogging made writing these weekly editions of the Thursday Press a lot harder! Who would've thought?!
Me and every other content marketer, that's who.
So of course, the week I actually get my butt together and write a blog, it's time for The Lifestyle Edition, which is arguably the least ~educational~ (but maybe most fun?) of the month.
Oh well!!! You're still gonna get educated!! (if you choose to keep reading)
WHAT you're LEARNING
OHHHH!!! A twist?? 🍋
JK, I'm not serving up cocktails here. Just straight up Pinterest facts.
Starting with the ever-present debate of whether or not you should use a Pinterest scheduler.
I've answered this question individually a dozen times, possible even hundreds of times if you include all the different variations…
Should I use a Pinterest scheduler?
Which one should I use?
Do I have to use Tailwind?
I've heard it will hurt my reach!?
Do I need to pay?
Can I just use Pinterest to schedule?
My basic answer hasn't changed.
Scheduling pins is what allows Pinterest marketing to become a more sustainable and efficient part of your overall marketing strategy, so yes, I recommend scheduling.
It won't hurt your reach, even if Lola Lifestyle-Blogger says it will.
And you can use whichever one you like best and will actually use.
But if you don't have a preference already, I would strongly recommend Tailwind. Namely because they're running one of their biggest sales of the year right now and you can get 20% off an annual plan!
To claim the discount, follow these steps:
Sign in to Tailwind (or create your free account)
Upgrade your account to an annual paid plan before 11:59 p.m. on April 26th.
& boom!! You've just locked in 20% off of my preferred Pinterest scheduler. 🎉
To get the full low-down on using a Pinterest scheduler, why I recommend Tailwind, and more, you can read this week's blog post!
Pros & Cons of Using a Pinterest Scheduler
WHAT I'M LOVING
Favorite Book: About 6 years after the initial hype, I finally read Educated by Tara Westover.
Tell me why this whole time I thought it was about a teacher??? I'm not typically a memoir girl, but this one was excellent. It was captivating and the audiobook narrator did a stellar job!
I'm also in a Greek retelling / historical fiction era, so be on the lookout for those recs (or send me yours!!!)
Favorite Watch: Zip. Zilch. Nada.
Seriously, dude… I haven't watched a show in probably a month or two. When we sit down to eat dinner, we're usually popping on a Youtube video (or 5) and then heading on up to bed.
Can I not hang anymore? Is this what getting older is like?
I am ridiculously excited for Zendaya's new movie, Challengers, to come out this Friday though. Catch me front row in the theater!!!
Favorite Desk Tunes: April was THE MUSIC MONTH. So many new albums. So many new songs. How's a girl to keep up??? These recs are fairly self-explanatory, but you know I've gotta…
Swifties, tap in — what song(s) do you have on repeat so far?
So Long, London, But Daddy I Love Him, I Can do It With a Broken Heart, and The Black Dog are all jostling around at the top for me.
Favorite Follow: Here are four accounts I'm groovin' with lately:
@groovysocial (appropriate given “groovin'”)
@chittco (love a good design timelapse)
@mindovermatterwithemma (per her bio: “relatable af”)
@dupephotos (more comin' soon on this one 👀)
Fave Save: I know you need to hear this one too:
Favorite Coffee Order: Here's the thing about finding your favorite things… they don't change that much. I've been a good “we have coffee at home” girlie for most of this month, thanks to our cherished Nespresso machine.
And of course, here's this month's favorite cat picture:
In conclusion, who decided that “in conclusion” is a bad way to end? It does what it says on the tin!
Also, I feel like this goes without saying, but I'm firmly in the “do whatever you want” camp when it comes to silly things like “rules” and “you shouldn't sign off your emails that way because it's not professional”.
You know what I say to that?
