Thursday Press #20: this is your sign to start repurposing your content
[10 MAR 2022] 3 tips to help you stop complicating your content creation
THIS IS YOUR SIGN TO START REPURPOSING YOUR CONTENT
And I'm not talking the generic “turn your blog post into 14 pieces of content!” type of repurposing. (Although that is also important and you should be doing it)
I'm talking straight up copying and pasting. 😳
One of my recent Instagram posts is now one of my top posts of all time… and it was repurposed content.
I posted almost exactly the same thing in December of 2020. You can check the comparison here.
Here's what I normally think about when I try to create content:
I've already posted about this, I'm going to alienate my audience
Everyone knows this already, what's something new I can share?
How can I create the best, most original Pinterest tips ever?
Which in turn only leads to burnout and feeling discouraged, because not every piece of content is going to be life-changing, never-before-seen info. And it doesn't need to be.
As a business owner, it can be incredibly difficult to be objective about your content.
You've educated so many times about the same things that you think your audience has heard it all.
But that couldn't be further from the truth.
Your audience is always growing and changing, and as we know, with the ever-changing Instagram aLGoRiThM, not every follower is going to see every piece of content.
🗣 You do not have to reinvent the wheel every time you create content.
If you're struggling to create content for your business, here are my top 3 tips:
Keep it simple. Don't over-explain or try to fit a blog posts's worth of content into your Instagram caption
Go back to basics. Even if your target audience is more intermediate than beginner, everyone can use a refresher from time to time
Reuse (your content), reduce (the time you spend on creating it), and recycle (your content ideas) ♻️
I understand, the idea of copying and pasting your old Instagram post seems yucky. But think about how you can take that same idea and rework it.
Maybe you're approaching it from a different angle (10 Things Not to Do on Your Website vs. 10 Things You Must Do on Your Website). Or maybe you're deep diving into one part of a larger concept (The #1 Thing Your Website Should Have)
And by the way, these tips work for more than just your Instagram marketing. Keep them on hand the next time you're batching blog posts or trying to come up with your next idea pin
Speaking of which… this week's Instagram shares are all about idea pins, so here ya go!
