Thursday Press #40: the best background noise and a revamped audit
[28 JUL 2022] Lifestyle Edition Vol. 005
Last night I was doing a little new moon journaling and one of the prompts asked me to reflect on the past lunar cycle (since June 28) and BOY a lot went on in July.
From family chaos to fun travels, big and little wins, lots of late mornings and low motivation, it was a true roller coaster of a month. Routines were thrown to the wind, but I'm excited to move back into a more predictable pace.
As we approach the end of the summer, I feel a craving for fall, the steady stumbling of kids back to school, and an unavoidable urge to organize.
All this is to say that July was chaotic, so these monthly favorites & recs are too.
Favorite Project: Is it too Leo of me to talk about my own? Real talk, I recently updated my Pinterest account audit service and I'm obsessed with how much better it is for my clients. Now delivered via a Loom video walkthrough, no more blocking off your schedule for a 60-minute call. Psst – this also means you can get it delivered sooner! Check out what the first client for this new service had to say below:
“If your service is still impactful, it won’t be devalued by having no meetings. I know this first hand because when I worked with Sarah (whose Pinterest Audit package is AMAZING btw), I never felt like I was missing out because she delivered her review over video & a pdf. It was actually really nice to be able to be so hands off and still get that personal touch of a meeting replaced by the video.”
During your Pinterest account audit, I'll tell you exactly how to move forward with your Pinterest strategy, with specific recommendations I see as I go through your account. If this sounds like something you're interested, feel free to reply with any questions, or click here to book your project!
Favorite Follow: If you don't already know TONIC, you need to. @tonicsiteshop has been posting absolute BANGERS of IG posts lately. I can't help but sharing them every time they cross my feed. This is, of course, in addition to their gorgeous website templates.
Favorite Show: Without a doubt Heartstopper. So dang cute and sweet! I've also started rewatching Gilmore Girls on slow work days for the perfect vibey, entertaining background.
Favorite Desk Tunes: I didn't really develop my own distinct music tastes until the 2010s, and that's when most things were dominated by Top 40 pop radio. We've grown since then, but I still have an undeniable fondness for all of the songs of the summer and the 3 songs that would always be on my radio alarm clock during high school. This playlist is equally good for a pump up work day or jamming in the car with a mixed generation crowd.
Favorite Self Care Activity: I don't know if this is self-care so much as it is something I'm letting go of shame about. As I mentioned, I've been having some low motivation days this past month that makes me really reluctant to work. So instead of punishing myself or engaging in all kinds of negative self-talk, I'll pop on a mindless podcast or YouTube video and get the work done with a bit of virtual company. If you need the reminder too, there's no one “right” way to do anything. Do what works for you!
Favorite Coffee Order: I'm a sucker for a giant iced coffee from Dunkin. Having one right next to our fave grocery store, pharmacy, and car maintenance place means I'm averaging at least one large iced caramel coffee a week.
And of course, here's this month's favorite cat picture:
Ever continuing to prove that the laws of physics and space just don't apply to cats.
