Thursday Press #57: breaking Pinterest news + what it really means
[1 DEC 2022] we've been waiting for this one
Hey dude, let's jump right to the chase…
I've got two things to share with ya today, including some not-quite breaking Pinterest news and what it means for you.
In the interest of saving time and letting you get back to your first day of the month routine, I'll skip the lengthy intro where I tell you about all the fun things I got for Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
Unless you want to know? HMU and I'll spill
& now that all the Grinches and Scrooges have left the scene because it's December 1st, this is the only energy I'll be accepting:
🚨 BREAKING PINTEREST NEWS! 🚨
As of yesterday, the Pinterest Creator Rewards program is officially over.
ICYMI, the Creator Rewards program (different from the Creator Fund) paid select “beta" users based on their creation of idea pins that fit certain monthly reward goals.
It was definitely a push for video content, but in an investor meeting, Pinterest said they'll rely more on big brands and publishing partners for “rich media content.”
Just because the rewards program is ending doesn't mean that idea pins aren't important anymore.
In fact, Pinterest also announced that they'll be rolling out links in idea pins for all users in the new year! 🎉
TBD on whether we'll be able to add links to previously published idea pins, but this is HUGE news as it means we have even more ways to send people back to your website!
This is just another signal that idea pins should probably be part of your Pinterest strategy…
..and that the powers-that-be at Pinterest actually care about the user experience and feedback, unlike some platforms 👀
In all honesty, I'm not that sad or concerned about the end of the program. My clients have always been able to monetize their Pinterest presence in multiple ways.
Whether it's expanding their email list full of warm leads ready to buy, selling digital products, courses, and templates, or booking projects worth thousands of dollars of revenue, the ROI on Pinterest has always been valuable.
I TOOK A WEEK OFF OF WORK…
..and the world didn't end.
And my clients' accounts kept growing. They got thousands of impressions & hundreds of clicks and saves.
Without a team, without checking in every day, without engagement.
This is by far my favorite thing about Pinterest – it's sustainable.
If you put in the work upfront to schedule your pins, you can take a week (or a month) off and be confident that Pinterest is working in the background to send traffic and leads flocking your way.
No punishments for not being active enough or “showing up” every day.
Just a solid algorithm connecting your content with the dream clients who are looking for it. 🤩
Sound dreamy?
This can be your reality, too!
If you're tired of relying on Instagram and its petulant algorithm for leads, it might be time to give Pinterest a try.
Whether you're looking for some help getting started, guidance along the way, or someone to take it off of your plate completely, I'm your girl.
You can find all the deets at the button below 👇
TL;DR:
Pinterest ended the Creator Rewards program and will be officially introducing links on idea pins for all users in 2023.
Oh, and if you're looking for a sustainable marketing platform that allows you to take as much time off for family, turkey, or just relaxing on the couch, Pinterest is here, and I'm here to help you with it.
